The Badrutt's Palace Hotel in St. Moritz was opened in 1896 and today has 156 guest rooms including 42 suites. Having already won several awards, it is one of the "Leading Hotels of the World". Twice a year the hotel closes its doors to guests. During this time, the hotel evaluates where renovations are needed. This year, among other things, the repositioning of the locker rooms was tackled. Because the free capacity in the locker rooms was getting smaller, a space-saving solution was needed. To our delight, the current CFO was previously employed by our customer Jelmoli and Zippsafe was already known. After a successful visit to the Zurich department store and the evaluation of various options, they were convinced. Only Zippsafe offers enough capacity and comfort within the available space. The decision was therefore clear. By equipping the entire central locker rooms with 35 of our ZippSpace Pro systems, a capacity of 475 locker bags was created on an area of 1615 square feet.
Although Badrutt's Palace is considered a historic hotel, modernization processes are ongoing. As part of the investment in new locker room systems, digital management of the locker rooms was also introduced via the Zippsafe Management System (ZMS). Through an API, the ZMS could be seamlessly integrated into the current access system of Glutz. Thanks to ZippManager, the digital management software, locker bags can thus be assigned to employees without any problems.
This also benefits the HR department of the company enormously, which is responsible for the allocation. There is no need for tedious key management and administration can be carried out conveniently from the office.
Incidentally, the installation of the systems turned out to be very exciting. Due to the renovation, the locker rooms were still a construction site on the corresponding installation day. Mobile air dryers were distributed so that the floor, which was completed on the same day, could dry more quickly. In addition, due to tight space conditions, several shoe compartments had to be dismantled on site so that the systems could be transported to the locker rooms at all. Such hurdles are well-known due to several years of experience and the installation of numerous systems and can be easily overcome through exact planning and mutual exchange.
In addition to the hotel management and the HR department, the employees are also pleased with their new locker solution. Initial feedback from users has been extremely positive:
Only the ski boots, which employees need in their free time, could not be placed in the shoe compartment. For this, the hotel provides a shelf with additional storage space next to the ZippSpace. Zippsafe has recognized this problem before and is currently working on a new product innovation to store oversized items. So you can stay curious to see what our solution to this will look like.
